Roland Hanna

I overlooked the wonderful piano playing of pianist Roland Hanna while he was alive and have only recently begun to enjoy his recordings. His music has a family resemblance to that of his Detroit colleagues Hank Jones, Tommy Flanagan and Barry Harris but it has its own distinctive personality. His solo recordings are very satisfying as are his numerous collaborations with the great bassist George Mraz.
